Zola delivers the rich, dynamic sound of the steel pan with style and versatility, creating unforgettable musical experiences at weddings, festivals, and corporate events across the UK
Zola is a UK-based steelpan soloist and session musician originally from the midlands. She first discovered the vibrancy of the steelpan community at age six through the African Caribbean Centre in Highfields, and by 15 had joined Contrast Steel Band, performing at notable events including London’s Notting Hill Carnival and various National Panorama competitions with ensembles such as Real Steel and Metronomes Steel Orchestra. After moving to Manchester in 2021 and initially pursuing a career in fashion merchandising, Zola’s passion for music led her back to performance; in 2023 busking helped launch her full-time solo career.
With a repertoire that spans R&B, Afrobeat, indie, reggae and pop, she aims to elevate the steelpan both as a live instrument and cover act, bringing its rich, dynamic sound to weddings, festivals and corporate events across the UK. During the pandemic she also developed her skills in music production, blending influences from drum & bass to nu-metal into original compositions, and in late 2023 released a six-track EP on major streaming platforms. Beyond performance, Zola delivers educational workshops that explore the history and cultural significance of the steelpan.
